Tottenham will look to take care of their their own European campaign tonight against Ludogrets, as the Europa League takes centre stage with Champions League fixtures done for the week.
Despite a brilliant summer transfer window which saw Spurs strengthen considerably, the European games are always a chance for fans to keep an eye on the players their clubs were linked with but never quite signed.

There’s loads of them in the game. Most clubs can probably pinpoint someone at Bundesliga, Ligue 1, or La Liga outfit who they keep a closer watch on thanks to previous transfer links.
That brings us, then, to Tottenham and 27-year-old striker, Alassane Plea, who currently plays for Borussi Moenchengladbach.
Linked (ESPN) with Manchester United in the summer, it is actually Tottenham who have apparently held a long-term interest in Plea, with reports going back as far as 2018 to suggest an interest in the forward.

And speaking of players catching the eye, Plea certainly did that in midweek. He scored a stunning goal of the week contender for the German outfit, rifling into the top corner against Shakthar as part of a brilliant hat-trick.
Fulfilling potential
Plea’s triple made it three in three Champions League games this season. Now, of course, it’s easy to say that any player could simply knock in a hat-trick to have those stats.
But it was the manner of Plea’s finishing and ruthless striking manner which caught the eye. There was little wonder, on this display anyway, why Spurs were said to be so keen and Man United kept a watchful eye.

Tottenham do have attacking options in abundance at the moment but question marks still remain over Carlos Vinicius given he’s hardly played thanks to Harry Kane’s superb form.
Should Vinicius not make his loan move a permanent one, then there’s every chance Alassane Plea could be an option again. At 27, he’s into his prime years and with performances like this midweek, there’s no reason to believe he won’t succeed in the Premier League.
