Former Arsenal sensation Andrey Arshavin was actually spotted watching Tottenham Hotspur return to the top of the league last night.

Arshavin shared his journey to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on his Instagram story and looked excited for the encounter with Fulham.

Of course, that’ll raise a few eyebrows in the red side of North London given Arshavin’s strong affiliation with Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger signed Arshavin for a club record fee of £15m back in 2009 following an excellent World Cup display by the winger.

And given how popular he became at the Emirates, Arsenal fans won’t enjoy seeing Arshavin flirt with their rivals, Tottenham.

Of course, those fans will have to admit that there’s scarcely been a more exciting time to watch Spurs.

Upon their 2-0 win against Fulham, Ange Postecoglou’s side returned to the top of the Premier League.

And whilst Arsenal are travelling to Spain to face Sevilla, Tottenham only have their focus on a trip to South London on Friday.

Moreover, given how strong both sides look this season, the contrast in schedule could end up making a big difference.

Arshavin nearly joined Tottenham before he signed for Arsenal

Of course, Arshavin may have been visiting Spurs with some thoughts of what could have been.

Arshavin admitted he was ready to join Tottenham before Arsenal, having been convinced by the boss at the time, Juande Ramos.

Although, Spurs weren’t willing to match a valuation of £20m held by Zenit St Petersburg.

And Arshavin did ultimately end up signing for Wenger and Arsenal, where he did enjoy some brilliant moments.

The standout being the four goals he scored against Liverpool at Anfield.

And there was of course that famous Champions League winner against FC Barcelona.

There’s not too many players who are coveted by both Arsenal and Tottenham at the same moment, and only Arshavin knows if he had wanted things to go differently.

Nonetheless, it does seem that the former Premier League forward will keep keeping a close eye on the North London clubs this season.

And another former Arsenal name who has been watching the club closely is Unai Emery.

The former manager has now admitted that he’s still shocked by how his time ended with the side.
