Rafa Benitez wants to unleash Newcastle United’s record signing Miguel Almiron in tonight’s game against Wolves at Molineux, as reported by the Guardian.
And former Newcastle wideman, Nobby Solano, who knows a thing or two about how to succeed as a South American player at the club, has given his thoughts on the Paraguayan new-boy.
As per the Sunday People, Sunday 10th February, Page 50, Solano said: “The Newcastle fans will love him. He’s very skillful. For me, he’s a similar player to Angel di Maria. For Paraguay, he plays as a winger.
“If Newcastle play a 4-3-3, then he will be a Willian or an Eden Hazard out wide. He’s very lively, he’ll take people on and the Newcastle fans always love the South American players who can do that.”
That insight on Almiron should help Newcastle fans, who may be expecting a diminutive number 10, given his stature.
Almiron may have energy to burn, once he gets used to the pace of the Premier League, and can add counter-attacking ability to Benitez’s side.
The Magpies fans will certainly be excited to see their new arrival tonight, although it remains to be seen how Benitez deploys his new star man.
Whatever his position on the field, Almiron will need to add creativity and spark to a Newcastle side that has lacked it for much of the season, as well as mucking in defensively in a side that is so well organised.
