Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere believes Ryan Fraser would make for a top signing for the Gunners.
The 27-year-old was speaking with football.london at an NCF Elites coaching session about his former club and their prospects this summer.
Fraser has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium since the 2018/19 campaign ended, although the speculation has died down in the last couple of weeks or so.
In the eyes of ex-Bournemouth loanee Wilshere though, his old teammate would be a quality addition for Unai Emery’s side.
He said: “I think Ryan Fraser would be a great signing. I know him well. He’s probably the hardest working player I’ve ever worked with.
“He’s got an exceptional attitude. On the pitch he runs around all day – he’s the first one on the pitch in the morning and the last one off it.
“His physical attributes have really come on. He’s really improved that side of his game. He’s really come on. Technically he’s really come on. You can see that by all the chances he created last year.”
For now it would seem Arsenal are pre-occupied trying to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace.
Should that approach end in failure, which is likely with Palace demanding at least £80 million (BBC Sport), then Fraser is the man they should be turning to.
Fraser’s statistics of eight goals and 15 assists last term were hugely impressive, and the Gunners cannot really afford to dismiss him as a potential option.
The star only has one year remaining on his contract and would theoretically be a good value signing with proven Premier League pedigree.
