Former Everton boss Allardyce offers insight into Klopp’s Liverpool future

Former Everton manager Sam Allardyce expects Liverpool to keep their patience with Jurgen Klopp and redouble their efforts to win the Premier League if they fail to scoop the crown this season, as per TalkSport.

Allardyce got the bullet after a number of months at Everton because his style of play was so uninspiring, but he does not expect Liverpool to make a change if they miss out on the top prize this season.

When asked if either Klopp or Mauricio Pochettino would have to worry about their job security if Manchester City win the league, he said: “No. The owners of Liverpool and Tottenham are very supportive. They will probably say, ‘what do you need to get better?’

“I’m not so sure about Tottenham – at Liverpool, it might be a different story. Their funds are increasing. They have plus-money in the bank and they might say, “we’ll give you a bit more to win it next season’. I don’t think they’ll have a problem.”

With Allardyce, it can never be ruled out that he is sending a pointed message to the Everton board about not backing him.

But otherwise, this is sensible – if rare in the sense that it’s a former Everton boss talking about the Liverpool manager – comment.

Klopp has done outstandingly this season to claw back so much ground on City and he has earned as much job security as he needs.
