John Terry previously ripped into a Chelsea academy star, but now they’re proving him wrong and are dominating in La Liga.
Terry is one of the club’s all-time greats. Most fans often see him as ‘Mr. Chelsea,’ because he captained the Blues during their most successful era.
That also means his opinion has a lot of weight, so when he publicly critiques a Chelsea player, it can sway the fans’ opinions on them, too.
Andreas Christensen suffered that fate, but despite his inconsistent Chelsea career, he is currently thriving for Barcelona.

Andreas Christensen is proving his quality for Barcelona
Chelsea have been known for pushing academy players in the past few decades, and Christensen is an example of that. He went from youth team player to a Champions League winner at the club, but his journey wasn’t a smooth one.
He first signed for Chelsea in 2012, and while he debuted in 2014, the central defender would spend two seasons away on loan, casting doubts over his career at the Blues.
However, from 2017 to 2022, he was a mainstay in the Chelsea setup before he left the club on a free transfer and joined Barcelona on a free transfer, where he is now one of the best players in the league.
While Chelsea are struggling to find a fully fit centre-back, Christensen has become an integral part of the Barcelona setup. He’s shown his quality not only defensively but also on the ball.
In fact, Christensen has the highest pass accuracy of any player in the entire La Liga this season, showcasing his ability.
Christensen has proven himself on the ball while playing in Spain, where he has also scored double the number of goals he got for Chelsea in fewer games.
John Terry called out Andreas Christensen for a mistake
Christensen made 161 appearances for Chelsea during his tenure at the club, and he was around during the end of Terry’s era, meaning the two players knew each other.
But that didn’t stop Terry from publicly assessing his performance against Aston Villa in 2020, where he felt the Chelsea defender should have done better.
Christensen collided with Jack Grealish, but stayed down for a prolonged period. In the meantime, Grealish got up and helped start an attack that led to Aston Villa equalising.
It led to Terry saying, “He should have got back up,” in the comments section of an Instagram post, making it clear he wasn’t a fan of Christensen’s behavior.
Many Chelsea fans criticized the Danish defender during his tenure at Stamford Bridge, saying he wasn’t physical enough or didn’t always show up for the fight in games.
However, he has gone on to have plenty of success in La Liga, proving his quality as a Barcelona defender.
