Former Celtic star Victor Wanyama has hailed Neil Lennon after he delivered the Treble Treble.

The interim boss has been offered the Parkhead manager’s job on a permanent basis, which he is expected to take.

Lennon replaced Brendan Rodgers back in February after he surprisingly jumped ship to join Leicester City.

Some thought his departure might have unsettled the team, but Lennon came in and saw the job through.

And in the eyes of Tottenham Hotspur ace Wanyama – who spent two seasons at Parkhead after signing for £900,000 – Lennon is the man to take the club forwards.

He said, as quoted by The Scottish Sun: “I think he is a fantastic manager and a fantastic coach but he is also a good man.

“He taught me the game. He made me a mature player. He gave me that understanding which let me go on.

“I’ll always be grateful to Celtic for what they did for me and my career and I’ll always be grateful to Neil.”

Wanyama has certainly come a long way since Lennon first brought him to Scottish shores back in 2011.

The Kenyan dynamo was sold to Southampton for £12.5 million, where he impressed for three years before sealing a move to north London.

He is now gearing up to partake in a Champions League final, and many Celtic fans have expressed their delight at seeing their former player contest the most prestigious fixture in club football, as well as Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

The 27-year-old is unlikely to start but could well provide some second half energy for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
