Celtic may have a battle on their hands in the months to come. It comes as Bournemouth reportedly step up their interest in Callum McGregor. According to The Scottish Sun, the Cherries are set to pick up their interest in the player – who could set them back £10 million.

It comes after a serious knee injury was suffered by current central midfielder Lewis Cook in midweek.

Now, Bournemouth are believed to be keen on upping their interest in the Celtic star.

Worst of all, it is a former Celtic man doing the majority of the damage. As reported by the Scottish Sun it is the former Celtic striker and current head scout at Bournemouth Mark Burchill who has been keeping tabs on the player. According to the report he watched the 25-year-old in action during the League Cup final against Aberdeen last weekend.

Burchill began his football career at Celtic. He had memorable moments in his three-year stint in the Celtic first-team. He scored the fastest ever hat-trick in European competition in a 7-0 win over Jeunesse Esch in August 2000.

But the arrival of Chris Sutton saw Burchill fall further down the Celtic pecking order and after just four appearances for the club he left for Portsmouth in 2001.

Now, nearly two decades later, he might be about to help pry away one of Celtic’s brightest talents away from Parkhead.
