Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur might well be breathing a sigh of relief over Thomas Lemar.
The player has been linked with both north London clubs in the past year, but it’s probably likely that speculation will now come to an end.

The French winger has just finished up his second term with Atletico Madrid following his £53 million move (Guardian), and his statistics make for grim reading.
In 29 appearances in all competitions, Lemar failed to either score or assist a single goal.
He struggled slightly with injury just before the enforced break, and following the resumption he was only afforded five appearances totalling 112 minutes.
He was handed enough opportunities at the beginning of the season by Diego Simeone to make his mark, but was unable to produce the goods.
Given how much he cost, there is likely going to a fair amount of talk about his future – but surely Arsenal and Spurs, both linked with a loan move in January (Independent), will now not be considering a move.
TBR’s View – Arsenal and Spurs now well stocked
Lemar didn’t end up at either north London club for one reason or another, and fans on both sides are sure to be quite pleased given his disappointing numbers.

Arsenal and Spurs both now have great options out wide – Nicolas Pepe and Steven Bergwijn have both recently joined their respective clubs, meaning there’s just no need for any more Lemar speculation.
The Ivorian and the Dutchman have both shown glimpses of their talent and could come into their own in 2021/22.
For Lemar, he’ll need to find somewhere to rebuild – at Monaco he was frightening on his day and there was even a bid of £92 million from Arsenal (Sky Sports) – and hopefully get back some confidence again through scoring and assisting.
