Aston Villa continued their good form yesterday with a comfortable 3-0 win over Middlesbrough in the Championship. The result takes the club to eight in the Championship and just three points off the play-off places.
Aston Villa are scoring goals for fun, with 17 in their last five games and this new attacking belief has taken them back into the promotion picture.
The resurgence of Aston Villa has clearly been down to one man. Dean Smith has turned around the club’s fortunes since taking over from Steve Bruce.
If a clearer picture of Smith’s form was needed then just look at the Championship form table since he took over at Villa Park.
Aston Villa sit second in the table over the eight games he has been in charge. Five wins, one draw and two defeats is second only to Norwich City, who are currently top of the Championship table.

To further rubberstamp his credentials, just look at the team he left in the same time period. Brentford are third from bottom in the same time-frame. With just one win and six defeats, the Bees are clearly struggling without their former gaffer.
Aston Villa fans will just hope he can carry on bringing success to the club.
