Tottenham have signed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

Failed attempts to land Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze led Spurs towards Germany, where the talented Dutchman resided.

TBR Football understand Tottenham were approached about Simons after a move to Chelsea stalled, with the RB Leipzig No.10 eager to move to the Premier League and unwilling to wait much longer for the Blues.

The Netherlands international has now been announced by Tottenham having passed his medical, after a fee of Β£52m was agreed as well as a lengthy contract, believed to expire in June 2032.

Micky van de Ven should help Xavi Simons settle at Spurs – having played 11 games for the Netherlands together – but some may be unaware that Wilson Odobert also knows the attacking midfielder well.

Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert played together at PSG

The Tottenham No.28 actually spent time with the man born in Amsterdam at PSG.

Odobert and Simons played ten games together for the PSG U19 side before they both departed for Troyes and PSV Eindhoven respectively in 2022.

PSG won eight of these ten outings and drew one, with the new Tottenham teammates combining for one goal, which coincidentally came against the RB Leipzig U19 side.

Therefore, Van de Ven is not the only player who will be a familiar face for Simons at Hotspur Way.

Tottenham are quietly building a potential super-team of the future

Some Spurs fans might be frustrated by the lack of progress made under Daniel Levy after almost 25 years at the helm, but the future looks very bright.

Tottenham can boast some of the best young prospects in Europe, with Pape Sarr beginning to flourish, Archie Gray showing signs of promise and Odobert dazzling in flashes.

There is also the talented Luka Vuskovic – who Spurs paid Β£12m to sign at the age of 16 – not to mention Lucas Bergvall, who was likened to Jude Bellingham in Sweden.

Mathys Tel is still only 20 as well and clearly possesses immense talent, which led Bayern Munich to spend Β£25m on him at the age of just 17.

Van de Ven and Djed Spence – aged 24 and 25 respectively – also have plenty of time on their side to become even better.

With Simons – aged just 22 – now in N17 as well, the future looks very bright for Tottenham.
