Forget Loren Moron, Tottenham should rekindle summer interest in Nabil Fekir to solve attacking woes

Tottenham Hotspur have recently been linked with a move for Real Betis striker Loren Moron. As reported by La Razon, the Spaniard is the player Jose Mourinho has targeted as a potential striking reinforcement for next season. The 26-year-old currently has a £55 million release clause in his contract with Los Verdiblancos and is hardly a goal-machine, so Tottenham fans were fairly uninspired by the link.

Instead of going for Moron, Tottenham should be rekindling their previous interest in his far more illustrious team-mate, Nabil Fekir.

As reported by Le Parisien last summer, Tottenham were interested in the French World Cup winner.

Fekir was available at a cut-price in the summer, with Lyon unable to negotiate a new deal with the player after a season which was blighted by niggling injury trouble. So it seemed a good deal for Tottenham.

However, he ended up joining Real Betis in a surprise move, reportedly (The Sun) worth just £22.6 million.

That transfer did at least force Betis into the sale of Giovani Lo Celso to Tottenham to balance the books.

Fekir has since gone on to have an impressive season with Betis, especially in recent weeks. His record of seven goals and six assists from 22 La Liga games involves three of each in his last five appearances.

Capable of playing anywhere across the front line and in attacking midfield, Fekir would provide the perfect option to Tottenham’s striking solution whilst predominantly performing his other duties.

Fekir is now being linked with both Real Madrid and AC Milan, with a report from Diario AS stating Fekir will cost in advance of €40 million (£37m) for any deal to be done.

If Tottenham can get Fekir for less than Moron, then it is a no-brainer to go for the World Cup-winning attacking talent.
