'Forget it': Arsenal fans urge Edu to ignore Real Madrid swap suggestion
The Daily Mail are claiming that Real Madrid would consider letting Martin Odegaard join Arsenal this summer but only if they receive Emile Smith Rowe in return.
Los Blancos are looking to take advantage of Arsenal’s interest in the Norway captain by asking for the Gunners youngster in exchange.
Yesterday, Aston Villa had a bid rejected for the Hale End graduate who hasn’t signed a contract extension.
He is under contract until 2023 and Arsenal have no designs on letting him leave the Emirates Stadium.
The 30-cap Odegaard could earn a reprieve at Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti now in the managerial position.
It seems as though they could now be prepared to use the 22-year-old as a bartering chip to land Smith Rowe.
Odegaard made 20 appearances for the Gunners last season. He found the net twice, including in the North London derby and registered two assists.
Arsenal fans would prefer Smith Rowe
Following news of a potential swap, the Gunners faithful have been reacting on Twitter.
It seems as though the club’s army of supporters aren’t keen on signing Odegaard at the expense of their bright young talent.
Smith Rowe didn’t make a Premier League appearance until Boxing Day last season. After that point he became a mainstay in the Gunners team and fans were delighted with him.
He is supremely talented and fans believe there is more to come from him.
Plenty of fans don’t want Odegaard back at all. some think he was way off the pace last season and would prefer other options to be identified.
Arsenal have to stop parting with their talented youngsters if they are to progress.
Smith Rowe shouldn’t be the latest young gun sold before he’s realised his potential and Gunners fans would be up in arms.
Here is what they had to say as a swap deal between Smith Rowe and Odegaard was rumoured yesterday.
