As Everton’s hunt for a new striker intensifies, the Edin Dzeko rumours continue to resurface. Many media outlets – including Calciomercato – are running stories linking Dzeko to Everton.
The 33-year-old has scored 12 goals for Roma this season but speculation surrounding his future will not disappear.
Dzeko could be a good short-term fix for Marco Silva, who is desperate to upgrade on Cenk Tosun in the striker department.
But is he looking at the wrong Serie A striker? Atalanta forward Duvan Zapata could be a better option for Everton.
Zapata has been in prolific form for Atalanta this season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions. This includes 19 Serie A goals in 29 appearances.
The 28-year-old is a physical centre-forward who also knows where the net is, meaning he has the physical attributes to adapt to Premier League football.

Everton need a new striker and he fits the bill so he might be worth a punt in the summer window.
The Colombia international has played most of his senior football in Italy but a new challenge could tempt him to the Premier League.
Rather than targeting Dzeko, Everton should divert their attention to Zapata. The ex-Napoli front-man is five years younger and has scored more goals this season.
Looking ahead to the long-term future, a move for Zapata would make more sense for Silva – if they could land him for a good price.
