Robert Lewandowski has told Sky Sports that he has great respect for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane’s goalscoring record, after coming up against him last night.

Great respect

Kane made it three goals in three games over the international break, as he scored a brilliant strike from distance in England’s 1-1 draw with Poland yesterday.

The Tottenham striker blasted a long-range shot beyond Wojciech Szczesny to put the Three Lions into the lead.

Lewandowski was actually not able to get on the scoresheet, but he did claim a late assist for Poland.

And after the game he was asked about the Tottenham striker.

“Yeah, for sure,” the Bayern Munich man said, when asked if he had a lot of respect for Kane. “For every player, I have a lot of respect. I know how good they are and also with Kane how many goals he has scored.”

Best in the world?

Lewandowski and Kane are widely said to be the two very best number nines in world football.

Kane actually missed much of pre-season this term, meaning he may not quite be at full sharpness.

However, the Tottenham striker’s goalscoring instincts are second to none.

Kane is now closing in on becoming England’s record scorer, and has netted over 20 goals in the last seven seasons in a row.

Very few players can claim to have scored as regularly as the Tottenham man in recent years, but Lewandowski is one of them.

The 33-year-old has hit a remarkable 301 goals in 333 games for Bayern, and has 10 in six appearances this season.
