Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to TalkSPORT that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane will be really annoyed about what’s happened at the World Cup

Kane was in lethal goalscoring form for Spurs heading into the tournament in Qatar. The 29-year-old has already bagged 12 goals in just 15 appearances in the Premier League.

Tottenham’s talisman hasn’t struggled to find the back of the net under Antonio Conte but is yet to get off the mark at the World Cup.

He’s managed to provide three assists in three games for England but former Spurs boss Pochettino thinks Kane will still be annoyed that he hasn’t scored yet.

Pochettino thinks Kane will be annoyed

Pochettino spoke to TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook today and was asked about Kane’s lack of goals in Qatar.

Crook asked: “Harry Kane hasn’t scored a goal yet at this World Cup. You know his passion for scoring goals. How much will that have annoyed him? How desperate will he be to put that right?”

“For sure. He wants to score and he will score. Harry Kane is a decisive player, he’s an unbelievable player, maybe at the moment he’s not had chances to score,” Pochettino responded.

“I think sometimes you don’t score too much, but you score the decisive goals – maybe it’s more important than scoring lots of goals in a game that you maybe win six or seven nil.”

Of course, Pochettino will know exactly how Kane feels when he doesn’t get amongst the goals after managing the England captain for over five years.

Kane won two Golden Boot awards under the Argentine and was arguably at his best in terms of goalscoring at that point.

The Spurs man is probably a more well-rounded player now though and his contributions to the England side can’t be dismissed, even if he isn’t hitting the back of the net at the moment.

Kane didn’t manage to score in last year’s Euros until the knockout stages and he will be hoping for more of the same this year.

England face Senegal in the last-16 of the World Cup on Sunday and Kane will be desperate to open his account for the tournament.
