'For sure': Antonio Conte says one of his new Tottenham signings can have a big impact after pre-season Rangers showing
Tottenham saw off Rangers in a pre-season friendly this afternoon as they continued to gather momentum ahead of the new season.
A double from Harry Kane was enough for Spurs to see off the Gers, who provided a stern test of mettle for Antonio Conte’s squad. The Italian was able to give minutes to plenty of his new faces at Ibrox. The likes of Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, Richarlison and Clement Lenglet all got game time, while Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster both got on as well.
Of course, there is time for those new signings to bed in. But Conte, speaking to Football London after the game, hinted that there could be a big role to play for Richarlison this season, even alongside Kane and Son.
“Richy for sure is a player that we signed to improve the quality of the squad. Also the possibility to make rotations with players that don’t drop the level. If you want to be competitive and become a strong team, the squad has to be with at least 16, 17, 18 players that has to keep the same level, not the level up and then the other level medium, otherwise you are not competitive,” Conte said after the win at Rangers.
The Brazilian was Spurs’ biggest money signing of the summer. After starring for Everton, the striker will hope for a big few months ahead of the World Cup in Qater.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Can Get Big Things From Richarlison
There is no doubting that Richarlison can be a big player for Tottenham this season. The club know they’ve signed a proven Premier League player and he should help lighten the load off of Kane and Son.
However, like today, Richarlison can play with Kane and Son if Conte wants to go that way. It’s a frigthening front three, and one which could cause havoc.
