‘For me’: Jamie O’Hara slams 29-year-old Tottenham man for ‘poor’ display v Sporting Lisbon, says his touch let him down

Jamie O’Hara has slammed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane for a ‘poor’ display against Sporting Lisbon last night, telling TalkSPORT that his first-touch let him down.

Spurs fell to a disappointing defeat in Lisbon last night in what was their first defeat of the campaign.

Conte’s men were once again underwhelming and struggled to create clear-cut opportunities.

Spurs were undone by two goals in the last five minutes against Ruben Amorim’s men.

And O’Hara thinks Kane was way below his usual standards on the night.

O’Hara slams Kane for ‘poor’ display

Speaking on TalkSPORT, O’Hara says that Kane needs to get in the box more often, instead of dropping too deep.

“I have to say I thought Harry Kane was poor tonight. I’m a huge Kane fan Jase but, I know you look at his passing and you see the Hollywood balls that he plays,” O’Hara said.

“But for me, he was off it tonight. His little touches in and around the box were bouncing up.

“His first-touch let him down.”

Fellow pundit Jason Cundy disagreed and said he ‘didn’t see that’.

But O’Hara added: “I look at [Erling] Haaland. Will score goals every single week because he’s always in and around the six-yard box. I don’t see that with Harry Kane.”

Kane has got off to a decent start this season as he’s bagged five goals in eight games for Spurs.

The 29-year-old wasn’t at his best last night but he was not alone as most of the Tottenham team were underwhelming.

The England captain often drops deep to link-up play for his teammates and it has worked very well over the past two seasons.

Due to Spurs’ lack of creativity in midfield, Kane is often the player who can unlock defences in Conte’s side.

Despite O’Hara’s comments, Kane has scored a few goals this season from being in the right place inside the box. And he was unlucky not to have not got on the end of Perisic’s drilled cross last night.
