Rafa Benitez should consider turning to the club’s U23s to find a possible solution to his first-team’s goalscoring problems.

With Salomon Rondon out injured, Benitez had to turn to Joselu against Leicester City at the weekend.

The Spaniard has actually scored two times this season, but the general feel amongst supporters is that he is not threatening enough in front of goal.

Benitez should consider Sorensen

Benitez has to turn this around quickly. With the transfer window currently closed and the season in full swing, he should consider U23 star Elias Sorensen.

The 19-year-old bagged a hat-trick on Monday against Fulham, helping the team to a 5-2 victory.

It is starting to turn into a desperate situation for Newcastle in the Premier League.

Benitez needs to take proactive measures, and promoting Sorensen could be the way to go.

The striker has been developing in the academy for two years after signing from HB Køge, and is considered one of the club’s brightest prospects.

The Spanish coach needs fresh impetus. His loyalty to Joselu is admirable but ultimately misplaced.
