‘For free lads’: Some Arsenal fans would be happy to offload £100k-a-week man this summer

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Sead Kolasinac’s future in wake of an announcement by his loan club that doesn’t mention the Gunners man.

The 27-year-old joined Arsenal in the summer of 2017 on a free transfer from Schalke, and has clocked up 113 appearances in red and white.

However, Kolasinac became surplus to Mikel Arteta’s requirements this season, making just nine appearances for Arsenal.

The Bosnia & Herzegovina international returned to Schalke on loan during the January transfer window and was immediately handed the captain’s armband.

He has made 17 appearances for the ailing Gelsenkirchen club this term, but couldn’t prevent them from being relegated.

On Thursday, Schalke released a statement confirming a number of departures, including loan players returning to their parent clubs, but Kolasinac wasn’t amongst those names.

Kolasinac is contracted to Arsenal until next year, so could this mean he’s set for another loan stint? Is he being released? Or will he come back to the Emirates in the summer anyway?
