Folarin Balogun sends seven-word message to Arsenal fans after U23s heroics last night

Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun put in another fine performance for the Gunners Under-23s last night.

The 19-year-old has been in and around the Arsenal first team this season, making four Europa League appearances in which he netted twice and claimed one assist.

Balogun is yet to feature in the Premier League, however, with the bulk of his football this term coming in age competitions like Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.

His contract is set to expire in the summer and, as of January, he can speak to non-English clubs about signing a pre-contract ahead of a summer move.

However, Mikel Arteta told reporters last week that Balogun said to him “he wants to stay at the club so hopefully we can reach an agreement and extend his contract.”

Last night, Balogun was instrumental as Arsenal’s U23s ran out 2-1 winners over their Leicester counterparts, playing a key role in the opener and then scoring the winner.

After the match, the Hale End gem took to Twitter with the following message:

“Whatever’s next” could certainly be open to interpretation – could it be a first-team run? Or perhaps even a new contract? Plenty of Arsenal fans will certainly hope that’s the case.
