Have a plan
There is no point in starting a game and just hoping for the best. Have a plan in place for your chosen team. Write it down if it helps. Sometimes I have an idea in my head and it doesn’t make sense until I write it down. Even then it might not make sense, but it gets there. Have a few key points that you want your team to implement. Actually watch some of the game to see if the plan is working. Adjust/repeat as necessary.
Be careful with your role allocation: On this FM, going gung-ho is punished by deadly counter attacks more than any other version of the game that I remember. In previous versions, you could get away with many attacking roles in
the team and attacking a lot. Be a bit more cautious this year. Write down what you expect each player to contribute and use roles/instructions that best represent that.
