No matter how much you love and play Football Manager, sometimes nothing works. Nothing at all.
You see all your friends or people on forums having great games, winning the league or Champions League with Yeovil Town or some weird Serbian fourth division team that you’ve never heard of. Meanwhile, you’re struggling to get Cristiano Ronaldo to put one in the back of the net with one of the most expensively assembled squads in the world.
One of the most frustrating things about a save failing is going through all the hassle of hiring your staff, all the press stuff (if you bother with it), searching for players, scouting players and then you play terrible and not at all how you would like. You sort of put it down to tactical familiarity, but even when the tactic is fluid, it still isn’t working.
It’s really disheartening.
You’ll go and read lots of information about tactical setups, philosophies etc, as well as articles on how to get the best out of your team and the best ways to build a successful tactic. You take notes and really think you’ve got it, but still you fail.
Rage quitting follows and you might even take to ranting on Twitter/SI Forum – “this game/match engine is broken” or, my personal favourite “I just got FM’d”. What does that even mean?
So what do you do?
Well, you’ll be disappointed to know that I don’t actually have the answer. I do however, have a couple of ideas that should help you get going with your next save attempt.
