Make Swansea great again – American struggles in South Wales
Whilst most of America may still be reeling from the election of Donald Trump as their soon-to-be-president, Bob Bradley will certainly have much more pressing concerns on his mind come Saturday afternoon. The highly experienced American coach has had a difficult start to life in South Wales after being appointed as Francesco Guidolin’s successor at Swansea City, having picked up just one point from his first four Premier League fixtures. Prior to the international break his side were booed off the pitch at the Liberty Stadium by their own supporters as they slipped to a lack lustre defeat to Manchester United which saw them rooted in the relegation places.
To say that Bradley’s honeymoon period has run its course is an understatement and he is undoubtedly under pressure to start producing results, and quickly. Whilst Swansea certainly have time on their side and a talented squad at their disposal it looks increasingly likely that they will need to pick up a positive result when they travel to Merseyside on Saturday afternoon to ease the pressure and start to turn the corner. Having said that, a trip to Goodison Park against an Everton side still reeling from their 5-goal capitulation at Chelsea probably suggests that the travelling Swans’ supporters will be heading home empty handed once more.
