Mauro Icardi

Argentinean forward Mauro Icardi is said to be demanding a move away from the San Siro after falling out with the club, and the Independent claim that Arsenal are ready to step in with a £42 million offer for the want away striker.

The rapid 23-year-old started his career at Barcelona, but then moved to Italy where he made his name at Sampdoria and was signed up by Inter. With an average of a goal every other game in the last two seasons, the team’s captain has become popular with fans but is now ready for a move to establish himself at a Champions League club after Inter’s decline.

Icardi would suit the Arsenal style, but has become well known for his behaviour off the field, not only in demanding a move this summer but also in his personal life with an affair with ex-teammate’s wife. This may put Arsene Wenger off as the Frenchman is keen on team unity, but Icardi’s quality may make it a gamble worth taking.
