Chelsea have had a great season under Antonio Conte, who has adjusted immediately to English football and introduced a tactical set-up to the Premier League.

His implementation of the 3-4-3 formation has led to a new trend of playing with three defenders and was directly responsible for the Blues league triumph.

Although they will be celebrating their success this season, it is important to buy from a position of strength and consolidate their position at the top of the English game.

Here are five players that they should target this summer…

Jordan Pickford – Sunderland

The Blues will be in the market for a new goalkeeper to provide competition to Thibaut Courtois after the sale of Asmir Begovic to Bournemouth. It would be preferred that the replacement will be homegrown as that would help them meet the registration requirements for the Champions League. Jordan Pickford would be a good goalkeeper to target, as he has already shown that he is good enough for the Premier League and possesses the potential to play at the highest level.

It is believed that Sunderland are in a poor financial position and they will be looking to sell Pickford this summer, as he is the player that holds the highest value in their squad. There will be a lot of interest in him and the 23-year-old may want to move to a club that will offer him regular first-team football. That won’t be the case at Stamford Bridge, but he would get opportunities throughout the season and receive a good education learning from Thibaut Courtois.
