Substitute Eden Hazard’s FA Cup goal against Tottenham – 22nd April

The goal that really ended the title race unusually came in the FA Cup semi-final. Chelsea’s stuttering form had allowed Tottenham the opportunity to catch up in the league and Spurs were just four points behind when they met and had the opportunity to give a real psychological blow to the leaders.

Eden Hazard started the game on the bench and boosted Tottenham morale, and with the scores level mid-way through the second half it looked as though it could go either way, but the Belgian’s introduction allowed him to rifle a shot into the corner of the net from the edge of the box to give his side the lead.

Tottenham looked demoralised almost immediately, and Nemanja Matic’s screamer only compounded that, meaning that the Blues not only have the chance to secure a double but also put one hand on the Premier League title.
