Diego Costa’s equaliser at the Etihad – 3rd December

In a game which was billed as a clash of the titans as the two title favourites met in Manchester, a Gary Cahill own goal had given Pep Guardiola’s team the advantage just before the break and they looked assured of being able to see the game out.

Diego Costa was having none of that, though, and brought his side back into the game as Cesc Fabregas lofted an inch perfect ball onto the Spaniard’s chest, allowing him to turn Nicolas Otamendi inside out, before firing a rasping effort past the helpless Claudio Bravo in goal.

Willian and Eden Hazard went on to seal the victory for the Blues, but it was the manner of Costa’s equaliser, showing real grit, determination and quality, which really got confidence flowing through the veins of the Chelsea team.
