Competition in the Championship
While QPR appear to be very nonchalant about aiming for the play-offs, other teams around them are flying high. QPR are currently 11 points off the play-off places. Middlesbrough are top of the Championship on 55 points and Hull are just two points behind them in 2nd place.
There are 10 points between the top six teams in the Championship, with Sheffield Wednesday in 6th place on 45 points. The difference between the top six teams and QPR who are in the bottom half of the table, is that they are able to hold onto leads and score late on to win a match.
For example, when Middlesbrough played Derby in their first game of 2016, the game looked set to end as a stalemate but Middlesbrough scored in the 83rd and 84th minute to claim all three points. That sort of spirit is missing from QPR’s team.
