Conceding late goals
Robert Elms, a lifelong QPR fan, recently stated on BBC Radio London that if games were played until the 80th minute, QPR would be 2nd in the Championship table. At this current moment, they are 15th. Their inability to maintain a lead has been an underlying issue since a 2-2 draw with Cardiff City in August 2015.
In that game, they scored in the 33rd and the 56th minute but allowed Cardiff City to score in the 63rd and then equalise in the 90th. QPR have drawn five matches that they should have won. The match against Cardiff was just one example.
QPR have been involved in four 1-1 draws and they should have been victorious in all four of those. In their 1-1 draw with Bristol City in December, QPR scored in the 56th minute and their opponents equalised in the 80th minute.
Later on in December they scored in the 80th minute at Loftus Road against Huddersfield. Surely this should have sealed victory for Queens Park Rangers? No it did not. Huddersfield scored in the 86th minute and QPR dropped two points yet again.
QPR should have come away with 15 points out of 15 in those five games but instead they came away with five points. Hypothetically speaking, if they had acquired those 10 points, they would have been one point away from the play-off places instead of 11.
