Five reasons that Andrew Robertson is the perfect left-back signing for Liverpool

Liverpool have finally announced the signing of Hull City’s Andrew Robertson for a potential fee of £10 million, after he completed a medical on Thursday.

A solution to Liverpool’s left-back headache at last, here are five reasons why he is a great addition to the Reds’ squad…

£8 million and £2 million in add-ons (as reported in earlier reports by the Mirror) is a bargain

In the current market, Robertson comes at a great price. Boasting home-grown status in addition to his potential, he could be worth a substantially higher amount in just a few years. Compared to £12 million for Alberto Moreno in 2014, it’s great value for money.

He has huge experience for someone so young

With over 300 first team games at the age of 23, few players can rival Robertson’s experience. Many of those have come at Premier League level and he’s also started collecting caps and is a regular for the Scottish national team.

He won’t expect to walk straight into the team

A young player coming from a recently relegated side, it seems that Robertson will be realistic about his hopes. With an experienced player for competition in James Milner, he will likely be rotated as he continues his development and shares a heavy workload with domestic and European competition.

He’s an attacking minded full-back perfect for a Klopp team

Robertson created an average of 0.65 chances per 90 minutes last term. Whilst it isn’t the highest of figures, it is still an impressive return for a defender from a relegated side. With pace and energy breaking forward, he will suit Jurgen Klopp’s style of play.

He loves to press

With substantially more interceptions than the likes of James Milner last season, you can see the impact of Robertson’s high pressing game. Rarely utilised by a Hull side who preferred to sit deep, he’ll be in his element at Anfield.
