Michel Vorm (Tottenham)

Right now, Liverpool fans have as much faith in their goalkeepers as the Greek public has in their government. Simon Mignolet has been dogged by repeated errors, not least in the 3-3 draw against Arsenal, and understudy Adam Bogdan has fluffed his lines in the two most recent games where he has been given a chance to prove his worth, namely the massacre at Watford and the fortuitous draw at Exeter. With third-choice netminder Danny Ward very unlikely to be promoted ahead of the Belgian and Hungarian, the Anfield faithful continue to sweat buckets about their last line of defence.

It is a fair statement that there are better goalkeepers than Mignolet who find themselves repeatedly kicking their heels on the substitutes’ bench. Among that number is Michel Vorm, who has had to play the role as number two to Hugo Lloris since joining Tottenham. The ex-Swansea keeper continually impressed for the Welsh club upon their arrival in the Premier League, but with Lloris hardly setting a foot wrong, his opportunities at Spurs are few and far between.

In fact, the 32-year-old Dutchman has only featured once for Mauricio Pochettino’s men this season, and a goalkeeper of his ability and solidity deserves first team football. Although the likelihood of Tottenham allowing a player to join a possible top four rival is slim, it’s a question that Klopp ought to at least ask over the coming days.
