Ben Gibson – Middlesbrough
Despite Middlesbrough’s relegation, Ben Gibson emerged from the most recent season with a lot of credit and his reputation has certainly increased.
He is currently in the England squad, showing how highly he is thought of in the game.
At the age of 24, he has a lot of time to develop and he would benefit from the coaching of Pochettino. He is a ball-playing centre-back, who can also dominate at the back.
Tottenham need more defensive cover if they are going to play a formation with three at the back. Kevin Wimmer showed himself to be a liability at times when he was given the opportunity to play and he doesn’t have the ability to push the starting defenders at the club.
Gibson is a good fit for the Tottenham squad and he would instantly increase competition for places. Given Boro’s negotiating position has weakened after relegation, this is a move that Tottenham should make.
