Tottenham have made excellent progress over the last two seasons and have established themselves as a Champions League team in the process.
Mauricio Pochettino is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the world and his ability to improve nearly every player that works with him says a lot about his influence on the training ground.
There is reason to believe that Spurs will continue to challenge for the Premier League title. The only problem for the club has been their inability to spend money wisely.
Here are five players that they should target this summer…
Joel Veltman – Ajax
Mauricio Pochettino is going to be looking for a new right-back if Kyle Walker departs and Joel Veltman could be the perfect candidate to replace the Englishman.
He starred in Ajax’s run to the Europa League final and he is one of the few players in the squad that is ready for a move to a bigger club. At the age of 25, he was the veteran in the team and he will believe that he is ready to leave the Eredivisie now. His versatility will appeal to Tottenham, as he can play as a right-back and a centre-back.
According to the Evening Standard, he may be available for as low as £8 million given his precarious contract situation. The road from Ajax to Tottenham is well trodden and it would be a move that would appeal to Pochettino.
Although he lacks the raw pace of Walker, the Dutchman is an intelligent reader of the game and he would suit the Argentine’s coaching style. It is a transfer that may suit all three parties.
