Five players Rangers will want moved on this deadline day

The painful defeat to Celtic in the Old Firm derby may have to be put to one side by Rangers for today as the transfer window closes at midnight. Steven Gerrard has until then to do any final tinkering to his squad, including potentially trimming some of the deadwood from the squad.

In terms of potential incomings, it is looking like being a fairly quiet day at Ibrox.

It was reported by The Sun that Rangers had failed in a bid to sign Phil Foden on loan from Manchester City, so that does not appear to be happening.

Ryan Kent is also a name that keeps popping up. The former Ibrox loanee is still at Liverpool and it is hoped by many he could still end up returning to Rangers for another loan spell. However, Steven Gerrard confirmed yesterday, as reported by the Daily Record, that Rangers are unlikely to be bringing in any new faces before the deadline.

So it seems outgoings are more likely.

Summer signing Jake Hastie is one of those. The talented winger is set for Rotherham United. As reported by Football Scotland yesterday, he is set to join the Millers on loan.

Eros Grezda also needs a new home. The Albanian saw a move to France fall apart last month but Rangers will hope to shift him along today.

Graham Dorrans, Jason Holt and Joe Dodoo are also considered surplus to requirements at Ibrox, according to The Scotsman.

The Daily Record reported last week that Kilmarnock are keen on a loan deal for Dorrans. There are no active reports on interest in Holt or Dodoo, but both will hope to find new homes by the end of the day.

Other then that, Rangers will just hope to hold on to Alfredo Morelos. The star striker was linked with a move to Espanyol recently but Rangers will be confident of keeping hold of him.

So it seems Rangers are unlikely to bring anyone in this deadline day but it seems up to five players could be on their way out.
