Kieran Tierney – Celtic
Since taking over at Newcastle, Benitez has built a British core and that is something that will benefit the club in the short-term.
He may look to add to that this summer and the club have been scouting at Celtic Park in recent months in their search for summer transfer targets.
Paul Dummett has improved a lot over the last 12 months, but the Magpies need to bring in competition to challenge him for the left-back spot.
Kieran Tierney is one of the brightest talents in Scotland and played a major role in Celtic’s unbeaten domestic season. Although they have improved under Brendan Rodgers, the Bhoys will always be at risk of losing their key players to Premier League clubs and their left-back could be the next to move South of the border.
At the age of 19, he has the potential to grow into an excellent left-back and he would benefit from the coaching of Benitez. He has a high work rate and can contribute in both halves of the pitch, but it is his maturity and reading of the game that are most impressive for his age.
It would be a coup if Newcastle were to sign him this summer, as bigger clubs have been credited with an interest.
