Five players most likely to be on Jose Mourinho’s Old Trafford clear-out list

Manchester United will be trying to get rid of some very expensive dead weight off of the club’s wage bill in the summer, without causing too much noise. Especially if new manager Jose Mourinho has anything to say on the matter.

The Portuguese head coach has a certain way he likes his teams to set up with specific types of players he can rely on to do the job required and this will undoubtedly require a re-shuffle at Old Trafford.

For players to come in there has to be a few departures, here are five we expect to see over the summer.

Marouane Fellaini

The big Belgian international has been used as an excuse for Manchester United’s boring football and poor style since being brought to the club by David Moyes in 2013.

A success at Everton with Moyes, Fellaini was used as the target-man that the side was built around and it worked. But after signing for the Red Devils there was no way the team would be centralised around him, which forced him to play in a deeper role.

In the latter stages of Louis Van Gaal’s first season at the club Fellaini was deployed higher up on the left-wing, a very successful system which proved to be the clubs best spell under Van Gaal.

However, now with Mourinho at the helm and a giant size transfer budget to use the Belgium international could be moved on for a fee of around £15 million.

He is not a Mourinho player with the Daily Star reporting that Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic could be a reasonable replacement.
