Jan Oblak
Though it now seems unlikely that David de Gea will make a move to Real Madrid this summer, United are sure to have alternatives lined up in case there is another twist in the tale of this ongoing transfer saga.
In Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, United could look to one of Europe’s best goalkeepers to fill the gap. With more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in La Liga in the last three seasons in a row, the Slovenian has proven himself to be a key part of Diego Simeone’s defensive strength.
Again, Oblak would not be a cheap option for Ed Woodward and co. but by signing a player with a proven record at the highest level in the Champions League, it would make a real statement of intent.
This one may not be a deal to expect this summer given the circumstances, but he could become a long term target with United scouts busy in Madrid with their eyes on a number of targets.
