Michael Keane
Whilst it may be embarrassing to spend a huge fee on re-signing a former youth player once again after the purchase of Paul Pogba last summer, it could play to United’s favour in the case of centre-back Michael Keane.
The Burnley defender has come on leaps and bounds under Sean Dyche at Turf Moor and shown that he does have the quality that neither David Moyes nor Louis Van Gaal saw in him whilst he was in Manchester.
Now capped by England too, United’s sell on fee could result in the club being able to get him at a bargain price, with effectively a 25% discount, but there will be steep competition for one of England’s hottest young defenders in the game.
With his home grown status, he will be worth even more to United heading into Champions League competition for the first time since the 2013/14 season under Moyes.
