Naby Keita – RB Leipzig
The Mirror reported earlier this month that the Reds are prepared to break their club transfer record to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig. The midfielder has been one of the stars of the Bundesliga season and helped the newly-promoted club to a surprising second-place finish.
He is a complete midfielder that can play a number of different roles, including as a ball-winner, box-to-box midfielder and a playmaker. An average of 1.53 chances created, 1.6 attempted shots and 5.1 ball recoveries underline that he can contribute in both halves of the pitch. His work rate and tactical flexibility make him perfect for a Klopp side.
Liverpool have a strong midfield and it isn’t clear which player that Keita would replace in the line-up, but Klopp realises the importance of competition. Signing a player like Keita will increase competition in all three midfield positions and that will lead to an improvement across the board, with the existing players working hard to retain their own place.
N’Golo Kante has been a revelation in England, but the RB Leipzig man has the potential to be even better and could be one of the signings of the season if it is completed.
