Ernesto Valverde
The favourite for the job is the current Athletic Bilbao boss. Out of contract at the end of the season, he would be cheap and could well be available if the Catalan club can make their wishes clear to him ear;y enough.
The 53-year-old spent two years at the Camp Nou as a player, though never really first choice, and has impressed at San Mames as he has made Athletic a force to be reckoned with both at home and abroad. This season has been a disappointment after crashing out of the Europa League, but he is still being considered as a top option.
Having won the club’s first major trophy in 31 years when they beat Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana in 2015, Valverde has shown his ability to get his side playing the kind of football that Barcelona like whilst bringing through a new generation of talent.
