Five key fixtures on Liverpool’s 2017/18 calendar that could decide their season

With the Premier League fixture schedule released on Wednesday morning, attentions were temporarily diverted from transfer rumours and gossip to the 2017/18 season ahead.

The calendar is bound to change when games are rescheduled for television and European commitments, but here The Boot Room have picked out five potential turning points in Liverpool’s season…

Manchester City (A) – 9th September

Arsenal’s visit to Anfield may be the first test of the season, but if Liverpool are to be title contenders then they must step up to the plate in away games against their top opposition as they did last season.

Pep Guardiola is adding to his squad this summer and will be a tougher opponent than his side were in 2016/17 and they will not want to be beaten on their own turf so early on in the season.

Coming just after the transfer deadline, this fixture could be crucial for Liverpool to show where they are at.
