Victor Valdes has been languishing in the development squad at Old Trafford for the best part of 12 months now, and it was a surprise that no clubs picked up the Spanish stopper in the summer. At the age of 33, Valdes must be thinking about how long he has left in the game and therefore thinking about where he can get first team football.

With Tim Krul out for the rest of the season, and Rob Elliot playing with an injury every week, a short term deal for a proven goalkeeper must be high up the wanted list for Newcastle. It would remain to be seen whether Valdes would want to play for a side battling relegating however it must be better than sitting at home every Saturday watching Jeff Stelling.
