Striker – Mauro Icardi/ Jamie Vardy
Its not entirely his fault, but Wilfried Bony’s time in Manchester has been a bit of a failure. He has been plagued by injuries throughout the last year but he lacks the movement and incisive play that Pellegrini’s system demands. With youngster Kelechi Iheanacho the only other striker in the squad the possibility of a forward being added in January is probably stronger than any other position.
Mauro Icardi’s 39 goals in 73 games in his time at Inter Milan has seen his stock rise throughout Europe. City were rumoured to be keeping an eye on the former Barcelona youngster with an eye on a summer move but, with Sergio Aguero’s injury curse coming back to haunt City’s title chances once again, the club could be persuaded to step up that interest.
Another popular name is Jamie Vardy. Linked with many of the top clubs during his recent goal scoring exploits. The Englishman won’t come cheap however, with some rumours placing his value at around £30million. Given Leicester’s current lofty position and the eye-watering fee this is a deal that would seem unlikely.
