Vincent Wanyama – Southampton

Despite Wanyama’s sending off recently against Norwich, his second of the season, he has still attracted interest from bigger clubs, due to his no nonsense approach in front of the back four. Tottenham have dropped a large amount of points from winning positions already this season, with some pundits believing this is down to the young core. Wanyama could be the more experienced head, which says a lot considering he is 24, required to negotiate tricky periods in games, and help Spurs convert more wins from draws. Not only is he defensively sound, minus the odd disciplinary issue, he is effective in recycling possession to the people who will influence the game offensively.

If Tottenham were to sign Wanyama this January, Pochettino will link up with a player he knows having coached him at Southampton. Therefore, Pochettino will know whether he is a suitable fit or not. A central midfielder may not be top of the priority list, but the signing of Wanyama could prove to be an astute one.
