Though a relative unknown to most Everton fans, the Senegalese international has been reportedly lined up to strengthen the Blue’s attacking options. With the impending sale of Steven Naismith to Norwich and the perceived inability of Kone to make the grade at Everton, reinforcements are desperately needed. There is no doubting Lukaku’s place in the team, but were he to be injured Everton would be left in a precarious position.

Russia’s Player of the Year, playing for Lokomotiv Moscow, is reportedly looking for an exit from the club with Merseyside seeming a possible location. A whole host of other Premier League clubs are chasing the striker, including Liverpool and Manchester United, so Everton face stiff competition for his signature. A price tag of around £15M could be another sticking point in negotiations.
