Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson was due to captain Scotland in their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.

But Robertson has dropped out of international duty as he has to have a dental operation, Scotland have confirmed.

Robertson will sit out of Thursday’s match against Kazakhstan due to this dental operation, but should return to face San Marino.

Scotland are likely to play Kieran Tierney at left-back instead; the Celtic youngster is highly rated by club and country and more than capable of stepping up.

Liverpool fans have since taken to social media to discuss Robertson’s decision to withdraw from Thursday’s match.

With an important game coming up against Tottenham Hotspur straight after the international break, Liverpool fans do not want Robertson to aggravate any niggles.

Alberto Moreno would be the second choice left-back if Robertson was ruled out of the game against Spurs, which would be a major downgrade.
