Leeds United have recently been linked with a potential move to sign Fiorentina star Erick Pulgar.
It was reported earlier this month that the West Yorkshire side had seen an initial move rejected for the player but La Nazione reported earlier this week that Leeds were now ready to up their transfer offer to £13.75 million.
It was more exciting news for Leeds fans and with news that Pulgar was not in Fiorentina’s matchday squad for their fixture with Inter Milan this weekend, there was some excitement brewing in the media that Leeds might have the Chilean unsettled. Indeed, it seems plenty were triggered by the news of Pulgar’s absence.
Indeed, Leeds Live relayed a report from Firenze Viola suggesting that Pulgar was absent from the game for reasons not pertaining to his fitness.

However, that does not appear to be the case.
Pulgar has been unfortunately impacted by contracting the Covid-19 virus this summer and his manager in Florence has confirmed that Pulgar has simply not recovered enough physically to get back to playing football.
“After the problem he had, he is trying to recover,” Fiorentina manager Beppe Iachini is quoted as saying by CDF. “He was unavailable for several weeks so he is trying to find his best condition.”
Leeds United fans should undoubtedly keep track of this potential deal, as a versatile midfielder appears to be another area Leeds are looking to improve in, with Dutch talent Teun Koopmeiners also being linked with a move to Elland Road.
But they should not read too much into Pulgar’s omission from the Fiorentina squad for this weekend’s fixture.
