‘Finishing 8th again then’: Arsenal fans unimpressed by talk of Cedric starting at right-back

Arsenal fans have been expressing their concern at reports this weekend which suggest Cedric Soares is in line to start the season at right-back.

Soares has been a squad player in the main for the Gunners. He filled in admirably at times last season, covering both full-back roles when needed.

But Football.London has this weekend claimed that Cedric is now in line to start the season opener against Brentford. It comes amid some supposed excellent performances in training, and Hector Bellerin’s future being uncertain.

Right-back is a position the Gunners have yet to strengthen. Edu is working hard to get deals done, with the likes of Tavares and Lokonga both signing in the past week.

However, Arsenal fans don’t seem too impressed with the message being sent here regarding Cedric. It seems Gunners supporters feel that it’s an admission that no new right-back is incoming.

So, while Cedric might be a solid professional and impressing Arteta on the training pitch, it seems Gunners fans feel differently.
