Tottenham Hotspur fans actually don’t appear to be too disappointed at the fact that they have missed out on signing Patrick Bamford, after he signed a new contract with Leeds United yesterday.

Bamford signs on

The Telegraph claimed that Tottenham were interested in the Leeds striker as they assessed their attacking options for the new campaign.

However, Bamford put pen to paper on a new deal at Elland Road yesterday to quickly end speculation.

It means that Nuno’s side could have to look at alternative options, as they weigh up strikers to bring to the club.

And Tottenham fans don’t appear to be disappointed at all that they have missed out on Bamford.

Bamford did hit 17 Premier League goals last year, so the reaction from Spurs fans may actually not reflect on his true quality.

There were concerns over Bamford’s finishing ability at the top level, but he really did answer his critics for Leeds in the previous season.

Spurs have been linked with some of Europe’s most elite striking talents this summer though, which has inflated expectations over who they could sign.

Both Dusan Vlahovic and Lautaro Martinez are thought to be on Tottenham’s wishlist, and they are both exciting targets.

It was a frustrating day for Spurs fans yesterday though, as a number of players linked with moves to them signed new deals.

Bamford, Nikola Milenkovic and James Ward-Prowse all penned new contracts yesterday, meaning Tottenham’s shortlist must be narrowing.
